March 9, 2008 Litter

Well, Holly gave birth, after a long time laboring and complaining about it, to 5 really nice, big, and healthy kittens! Her labor started on Friday morning, and ended late Saturday evening. Whew! But it's all worth it.

Mom and Dad are both HowLyn cats. We were hoping for a good mix of features, and it appears that we got it. The one thing we weren't counting on was color. Given Holly's color, anything was potentially possible. It looks like we have one brown boy, who will probably look jus like Dad. And one Torbie Brown girl, who is already striking. But then we have 3 other blue babies! Blue is a dilute brown, pretty rare, and certainly beautiful! You may call it gray, but blue is what the cat fanciers call that color. Go figure! We just didn't know that both Holly and Jumanji were carrying the dilute gene. So now we know what you get when you mix red, white, and brown. Blue. Go figure!
